Hatton’s fight with Lazcano was his first fight back after being knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in December of 2007. In between fights Hatton increases his weight 40lbs. The English fighter weighs as much as 180 pounds due to a poor diet when he is not in training.

Hatton has commented to the media that too much has been made of Pacquiao’s victory over De La Hoya. De La Hoya was well past his prime and the English fighter has gone on to say that he can’t believe how many are in the industry has failed to see this and he went as far as calling the victory a fluke. Hatton will be one of Manny’s toughest opponents. Hatton is in his prime and it’s in a weight class he has fought 18 of his past 20 fights in. It will be interesting to see how Hatton will handle the hand speed and power of Pacquiao. Manny was able to come forward with his speed and his power punches forced De La Hoya in trouble on the ropes. Hatton has 140lb power and it’s his perfect fight weight. It’s the weight limit the Englishmen have excelled at. There is no doubt Hatton will bring more power to the ring than Oscar did and Pacquiao will have to deal with the counter punching from the English fighter. This may be the strongest fighter Manny has faced in his career. Because at 140 Hatton is dangerous and a live underdog in a fight that has the makings of a classic and will live up to the hype. The great thing about this fight is you have two fighters who aren’t afraid to dish if it means getting hit. We have two fight styles in the ring that will bring plenty of excitement for fight fans.
