In the South Regional Final it will be the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Oklahoma Sooners meeting for a trip to the Final Four in Detroit Michigan. The opening number sent out by LVSC was North Carolina a 6-point favorite. The early money pushed the Tar Heels up to a 6-½ point favorite. The over under in the game was opened at 160. The early money has moved the total significantly higher as the over now sits at 165 ½. North Carolina is a very high scoring team averaging 90.5 points per game ranking them 2nd in the nation. The Tar Heels do a very good job of getting to the free throw line as they average 25.43 attempts per game ranking them 10th in the country. All 4 of North Carolina’s losses were to ACC opponents and in each game they were held to 38.4% shooting or less. North Carolina has covered big numbers in the NCAA Tournament, as they are a perfect 3-0 ATS. Oklahoma has shot for extremely high shooting percentages during the NCAA Tournament hitting on over 60% against Morgan St, 49% against Michigan and 54.2% against a very good Big East defensive team in Syracuse. The Sooners shot well from the 3-point line in their game against Syracuse hitting on 42.9%. It’s worth noting the site for the North Carolina game will be exactly the same as it was for the Syracuse game hinting that the Sooners shooters liked the backdrop of their neutral court location. The Tar Heels will have their hands full defending sophomore forward Blake Griffin. Griffin has averaged 30 points and just under 15 rebounds per game during the NCAA Tournament. Griffin is also hitting on nearly 78% of his shots from the field. What must be of extreme concern for the Tar Heels is that Griffin was 12-15 from the floor and grabbed 14 rebounds against Syracuse. Syracuse had most of the week to get ready to defend Griffin yet the forward was able to get off against the 2-3 Orange zone. A weakness in the Sooners is their free throw shooting, as they have shot no higher than 63% in any game during the NCAA Tournament.
