New Orleans fought hard for 3 and a half quarters but San Antonio showed their old self taking over game 3 in the final 5 minutes. Yes, Chris Paul was effective but when it was time for the Hornets to give the Spurs the finishing blow late in the game they couldn’t get it done. There is no credit here for playing with the Spurs for 3 and ½ quarters because many teams do that. But it’s the late stretches in games where the Spurs apply their will, take their game to a higher level, and force their opponent to suddenly look soft. The Spurs will now begin to take control of this series. They are more sounder defensively and deeper in the middle. They simply get better as they get deeper in playoff series. New Orleans gave the Spurs everything they had in game 3 and still lost by margin in the end. Game 4 gets away from New Orleans. San Antonio big in this spot. Take the Spurs –5.5
